Road trip with Dwight, day 2

Miguel woke in the morning, looked around for coffee, and sighed when there wasn't any. He rubbed his face and yawned, then ditched the shorts and tee for a pair of jeans and his sunglasses. Hey, if shirtless worked for Dwight, maybe it'd work for him. He could use all the coffee he could get.

Dwight stirred, and stretched as he woke up. He glanced over at Miguel as he sat up and stretched again.

"Morning. Sleep alright?"( Read more... )

[Preplayed with the lovely alwaysonguard!]

comments

Rosa and Miguel's apartment, Saturday morning

Last night, Miguel had gotten in and pretty much just collapsed. He could deal in the morning.

Now it was the morning.

He gave a whiny growl and rolled over, trying to ignore it.

"Let's never do that again," a voice that definitely wasn't Rosa said.

Miguel cracked his eyes open suspiciously and found a large black bird staring back at him.

He cursed in English and Spanish.

The bird happily took it up, cursing along with him.

He buried his head in his pillow.

[For the one (who's two today)!]

comments

Miguel and Rosa's apartment, Monday evening

Miguel was cooking again tonight, because they were out of leftovers, so it was that or eat Rosa's cooking. More to the point, that or get Rosa's disappointed looks as she cooked, which wasn't what he was after tonight.

Unfortunately, no matter what he was after, the multiverse had other plans. He was in the middle of sauteeing when a loud, noisy portal showed up in the middle of the kitchen. Miguel startled and tried to back away from it, but it pulled at him - he threw out webs, but all that did was pull down the pan and nearly the refrigerator, rocking it enough that it opened and a few bottles spilled out. His talons dug into the floor, but no matter what he did, the portal pulled him closer, until it sucked him out of the apartment and into a whirl of multicolored webs and weird, disorienting dots.

After a moment, it spat him out onto a street. He spun to his feet, shaking off the disorientation and looking around. He squinted, then turned to find a street sign.

He frowned. It wasn't his, but he'd been to the modern one a few times. "New York?"

comments

A bar on the mainland

Miguel had looked around, found a pub with good food and plenty of beer, and called a taxi to get them there. The bar even had $1 drafts on Monday.

They might regret that after these two started drinking.

[Expecting one, and NFB for distance!]

comments

29 Chimera Court, Saturday morning

Last night had been nice. This morning had been nice.

Miguel was about to kill whoever had left the front door unlocked. Even if it was possibly him.

But right now, he was warm in bed with Rosa, and quite happy to stay there until he had to go to work.

[Expecting the kid and she who's mentioned, but open after!]

comments

Drunk and Bored Club, Saturday night at the house of insane bachelors

Another Saturday, another chance for drinking and talking. And maybe fun opening of bottles, if Beau showed up.

Miguel had made nachos. What? He wasn't in much of a cooking mood, and they were easy. And very Nueva York. There was also plenty of beer. And a bottle of rum he didn't remember buying, but it looked interesting.

The Drunk and Bored Club was open for business!

[Open post!]

comments

Drunk and Bored Club, Saturday night at the house of insane bachelors

Miguel might have gone overboard on the empanadas at Luke's today, so there were plenty of leftovers for the club meeting at his house.

Which made the whole thing seem way more domestic than it probably should, but hell - he liked it and he didn't think Fjord would object, and they were the founding members of the club after all!

There were also plenty of decent beer and cider, despite the fact he'd had to go to the mainland to get it because the locals hadn't exactly been able to ring him up.

The drunk and bored club was open for business!

[OOC: Once again open to anyone who knows it's here or wanders by!]

comments

They were inside tonight at least, so Miguel had actually bought a few bags of chips and pretzels and things. Those went with booze, right? He'd also gotten some weird fruity beer, a bottle of brandy, and a twelve-pack of hard cider.

Let the somethingth-annual (weekly?) meeting of the Drunk and Bored club come to order!

[If you've ever been in the past, Miguel called to invite you.
House of Many Bachelors, Thursday

It was Thanksgiving. Miguel had sent a message to his brother, but he couldn't exactly go home for it, and the Exiles were off making Miguel feeling vaguely guilty by beating heads in another dimension, so he left them some food and came back to the island.

Damn it, today was for cooking and eating and being with people, and if he couldn't be with his family or his team, he was going to be with the insane people here. He shot off a text message to anyone he thought might be interested, then rolled up his sleeves and got to work.

Turkey with chorizo stuffing, sweet potato black bean enchiladas, mashed potatoes, Mexican-style roasted corn, green bean casserole (because shut up), and pumpkin empanadas and tres leches cake.

Because damn it, it was Thanksgiving. And it wasn't like leftovers would go to waste in this house.

[If you think you got a text, you did. If you smell it walking by and want to drop by, go for it!]

comments

Miguel's brother had shown up - thankfully not his mother, but Gabi was his own sort of exasperation - so Miguel had ended up sharing his room last night. This morning, he was making breakfast at least in part to escape and get his coffee on, leaving Gabriel in the main room to watch TV or whatever. There was such a thing as too much closeness.

And hey, it meant there would be omelettes, breakfast burritos, and bacon for breakfast.

[OOC: Open to roommates, guests, and anyone who'd drop by!]

comments

So, Kaidan didn't believe food could be exciting, and Miguel was out to prove him wrong.

Given his roommates, at least the meal should be interesting.

He'd made empanadas, chicken mole enchiladas, nopales, apple pie, and horchata.

It was maybe a bit of a mishmash, but damn it, he was going for exciting!

...maybe Mitsutada would add some sushi to the mix or something.
Miguel had no idea what was going on. Miguel had been stopping some really weird third-rate bad guys from ending the world. With a duck.
So, this was apparently one of those weeks Eliot had warned him about. Fortunately, Miguel didn't seem to be too affected; maybe that was his extra healing kicking in. Maybe spiders didn't react to pollen? Heck, how was he supposed to know? He hadn't exactly planned for this in his calculations.

Anyway, it wasn't too bad, but it was still annoying enough that he'd called up Heather and asked if they could use him for a while. Now he was just making some coffee, eggs, and bacon before he headed back to the Panoptichron. Saving other worlds sounded good right about now.

[Open post to anyone in the house or who wants to drop by before Miguel heads out!]

comments

29 Chimera Court, Sunday morning

With all the inhabitants and guests around, somebody needed to make breakfast. And the stew had been decent, but Miguel had opinions about breakfast. Plus it didn't seem fair to leave it all to Nathan.

So, he had a cast-iron skillet out over the fireplace and was making a frittata. There'd been sausage and bacon and vegetables in the fridge, along with the queso he hadn't given to the mice, and he hoped nobody was vegetarian. If they were, he'd just leave the meat out next time; he had a feeling two was the least number they'd need with everybody here.

There was also a pot in one corner of the fireplace simmering along with hot water and coffee grounds, because breakfast required coffee, okay?

It was actually pretty cozy.

[Open to everybody here or anyone that wants to brave the storm!]

comments

29 Chimera Court, New Year's Eve

It was New Year's Eve, and the house had been be-bannered, be-fooded, and somehow, although none of them had specifically brought any, be-glittered. There was music on, and Miguel had rigged up a holodisplay of the ball drop in Nueva York.

The party was on!

[Open post! Come celebrate with us!]

comments

29 Chimera Court, Friday evening

Miguel might be drinking with Sparkle later, but for now he was indulging in his other method of coping - cooking and eating food that wasn't rotting.

Empanadas seemed like a good idea.

[Open to roomies or anyone dropping by!]

comments

29 Chimera Court, Monday evening

There had been a spider in Miguel's room this week. It had spun a lovely web, eaten a few small bugs, and generally been spiderish.

Now Miguel was Miguel again, and he had a terrible aftertaste in his mouth.

He scowled and pulled on some pants, then went to get a large drink of something. Anything, so long as it wasn't bug-flavored.

"This had shocking well have been the island and not a secondary mutation!" he grumbled to nobody in particular.

[Open to the housemates or for texts or calls or whatever!]

comments

29 Chimera Court, Wednesday morning

Miguel needed a break. The Timebreakers could whine all they wanted, being brainwashed into fighting your friends and nearly destroying the world earned you a break as far as he was concerned. And since he was on this schtick of his own free will, there wasn't much they could threaten him with.

Well, they could fire him again. So giving them a heads-up by hanging out in a place that was likely to break a few timelines seemed like a fair compromise.

He checked what street signs there were, found the place the bugs had set up for him, and dug out the key. "Hey, Heather," he said into the comm he'd rigged up, "I'm here. Looks pretty mild as dimension-breaking things go. Yeah, I'll be fine. Tell the bugs thanks."

He unlocked the door.

[Open to the roomies he doesn't know he has, and anyone else who might be there!]

comments
