Miguel O&#39;Hara

Hey, Liam was always up for eating other people's cooking. Because it meant he didn't have to go out or order takeout.

"Quite the spread," he commented, looking impressed.

Kaidan had done some cooking of his own, mostly from nerves. This was his first ~~real playdate~~ personal social outing since he'd arrived on the island, and he felt some sort of host gift would be appropriate. He'd spent Monday making ajvar and some flatbreads to bring with.

Arriving at the correct address - and he knew it was correct, he checked it several times on the way there, he knocked.

"Huh," Reno said, coming downstairs and surveying the spread. "I ain't got no idea what the occasion is, but I gotta say, I'm not complaining, yo."

Was he invited? He had no idea.

Was that going to stop him? Nope.

Miguel grinned. "Thanks. I met this guy who doesn't think food can be exciting, so I'm out to prove him wrong. Made enough for everyone, though."

"Showing someone food can be exciting," Miguel said. "What do you think?"

From:

"Well, I know I'm excited," Reno drawled. Why yes, he was already making a reach for the horchata. "Seems like you've got a pretty solid plan so far, yo."

Miguel stepped out of the kitchen to quickly answer the door, mostly so he'd get there before Reno or Magnus.

"Hey, glad you could make it." He waved Kaidan in. "Did you make something too? You didn't have to, you know."

“That’s good, because otherwise I would just have to hang around looking all sad about my lack of dinner,” Liam teased.

"Host gift," Kaidan shrugged, handing it over, "Ajvar, kind of a roasted red pepper, eggplant, garlic dip. Old family recipe. I thought maybe you'd like it, since you seem to think I had an absence of spices in my life. If you like it, I have, uh, a lot more at home. Thanks for inviting me. Looking forward to seeing what you've cooked up."

He followed Miguel inside and nodded to Liam, who'd gotten there before him, "Hey, man. Good to see you again."

"Hey, new blood!" Reno hefted up the glass of horchata that he'd already pilfered in a sloppy toast... salute... thing. "Turn around while you still can, yo. There ain't no recoverin' from settin' food in here."

... He was probably joking.

He might have already put bonus alcohol into his glass.

Oh hey, so Miguel’s “this guy” turned out to be someone Liam actually knew! Sort of. They’d met, anyway, and their teen selves had gotten along pretty well, so Liam hoped that would carry over now that they were back to normal.

“Hey Kaidan, good to see you again,” he greeted cheerfully.

"But then I'd have to eat my own cooking," Kaidan protested, amused, "Where's the fun in that?" Nodding to the person with the shocking red hair, he introduced himself, "Kaidan. Met Miguel at the gym, and as everyone seems to notice right off, I'm new to this island."

"Reno," Reno replied with a smirk and a nod. "Met Miguel when I walked through his front door, insistin' I was supposed to be movin' in here."

It had worked, too.

"I wasn't gonna say it," he added, "but yeah, you definitely got that shiny new look to you. But you got a taste of weird already, unless you showed up yesterday, so at least you know what you're in for."

"How's life been treating you this week?" Kaidan grinned. Liam was good people ~~for a cop~~. "I was going to stop by your office later this week. Kanan and I were talking armor and he said your troopers have some neat gear."

Hey, the cop thing was relatively new! “Better now that I’m back to the age I’m supposed to be,” he admitted. Being a teenager hadn’t been all bad, he supposed, and at least now he had some idea of what it was even like. “He said that, huh?” Eyebrow raised. He was well aware of Kanan’s stance on the Troopers.

Kaidan laughed and shook his head, "Well, that's one way to find a residence. And yeah, I got caught in the jinx last week. Everyone warned me it happened, but they kindly left out that it's something of a once-a-month kind of deal. I'm going to have to plan some work coverage for this."

"Right. I like having my current mass," Kaidan chuckled. "Yeah, we were talking about different galactic armors. Mentioned your guys wore some he was familiar with, and it sounded neat. Think I could get a look at it? I'm curious to see how the tech is different from the armor I'm used to."

And he really wanted to know what an Empire soldier looked like. For ..reasons.

Yeah, that eyebrow wasn’t climbing back down any time soon. “Uh huh,” he said. “Sure, so long as whatever you’re planning, you leave the Island’s Troopers out of it,” he added with an easy smile. You didn’t spend years as a Companion Agent and leader of a Resistance movement without getting extremely good at sniffing out when people were Up To Something.

He shook his head, "Not planning anything. I've no interest in the Troopers themselves, just their kit, and I only want to look at it. Unless you have a spare or broken piece laying around that I could monkey with?"

Monkey with.. throw biotics at..maybe shoot at.. see what's effective, in case the Empire decided to send a legion after his friend.

“Not hanging around the house,” Liam shook his head. “But sure, stop by the station this Friday if you want.”

"Ah, yeah? Lookin' to hire, are you? Get some cover in case of the weird?" Reno tilted his head back, mulling that one over. Sure, he already had his job at the sex shop, but he'd taken that one halfway for the hilarity of it all. "Gotta warn you, there ain't no guarantee if somethin' hits you it ain't gonna hit your staff. Where you set up?"

"Yeah," Kaidan confirmed, "Right now it's just me. Well, me and the raven that kind of did what you did - flew in one day, insisted it worked there, refuses to give back coins as change. It's a help, but it doesn't talk, and I would like my tills to come out even one day."

"I run the C.I.C., which is mostly a LAN/games suite, though I do electronics repair on the side. It's over on Godiva," Kaidan answered, "I realize that the jinx could hit myself as well as the staff, but having other employees would give me at least a chance of having someone left capable of minding the shop. If you know anyone looking for work, send 'em my way?"

"Sounds good. I'll pop by Friday morning before I open the shop. Thanks for feeding my curiosity," Kaidan grinned.
